1965 1098 cc Four door GYK 654C “Doris” Whilst working on my son’s four door I was approached by a person doing a government survey who said he had a minor for sale .The car was based in Richmond I purchased car on 28/12/2004 and then transported it to Waterlooville for work. Superficially car looked ok but for £200 there was always going to be work Recorded mileage was 87200 which looked genuine and the car’s last tax disc was 1983 Previous owner acquired the car on 24/09/1984 and there had been 2 owners prior to him .I think he had had some work done but then found out the extent of the welding needed and it just stayed in the garage .The last tax disk is for Febuary 1983 so assume this was the last time it was on the road. The 2nd car owner lived in Bookham so a local car. I worked with a retired mechanic on the car and the following was done: • Engine rebored and crankshaft reground • Gearbox replaced with a donated gold seal one • New windscreen and all window rubbers • Welding: new sill, cross member, flich panels ,inner wings, bottom of doors etc • Car etch primed and then repainted • Refitted car including inertia reel seat belts, new windscreen ,headlining , wiring harness Car passed MOT on September 25th 2009 and only running maintenance thereafter -

I've owned the car for over 33 years. She was a basket case when I bought her but I've slowly improved her over the years. She is now a fully restored "one off" example - not one for the purists it's fair to say as there's maybe the odd departure from factory spec! Engine, brakes, suspension, body, interior, exhaust & wheels have all been repaired/replaced/upgraded to create a car that can go up famous Alpine passes at a pace that could embarrass many modern cars while still looking reasonably stock and mild mannered. -
